Swastikas and slogans are appearing on the fences and walls throughout the entire city.
Now, when the crisis has made a painful impact on lower strata of population and when the top circles are having evident signs of political schizophrenia, it is no surprise that the angry population is searching for someone to be blamed. And various leaders and those, who are willing to be leaders will eagerly show them who should be blamed and what he should be blamed for. Besides, the history of extremism says there are always plenty of objects, that seem to be very good target for the people’s rage. It can be either a salesman who cane here from some Caucasian country, an African student, or a “rich Jewish banker” (at least, anecdotes claim that Jews are all rich and they are all bankers). The “fighters for justice” lack power and courage to combat antinational state system. But they feel free to beat up a feeble student from China or humiliate the foreigner.
Domestic anti-Semitism There are already some kinds of Nazism-like extremism in Dnepropetrovsk.
The first one to appeal the law enforcement bodies were the residents of a house on Heroes Avenue. The walls of their block house were covered with graffiti of swastika and other fascist symbols. Later on the residents started having various problems. The victims were mostly Jews, Caucasians, and, which is the most surprising, the veterans of Great Patriotic War. All their problems were caused by a young man, born in 1981, who always used to behave quite normally.
Later he explained that he was inspired by the article “the writs of the wise men of Zion”, which was published in some yellow newspaper last year. He was sentenced to ten days of administrative arrest after he had started a fight, where he had showed no mercy even for the elderly disabled neighbor. After he went through the forced educative work, he agreed to have a course of therapy of alcoholism. Export of extremism The second case, which happened this year in March, turned out to be much more serious. There already were some groups of skinheads and other followers of ultra-right ideology in Dnepropetrovsk, but they behaved quite peacefully due to the peculiar traces of multi-national and pacific city. Thus they never had any serious problems with police. But in the beginning of March a new extremist group appeared in the city. It didn’t contact with already existing groups. First, the greeners were considered to be casual visitors from some other city. To some extent, this suggestion was true. Of course, most of members of the group were the native residents of Dnepropetrovsk, but the leader of it was the citizen of Russia, the younger brother of one of active neo-fascists from Moscow. He sent to Dnepropetrovsk various propaganda and ideological materials via Internet. Yet, the guys weren’t very scrupulous, as they were also interested in SS-Galichina division, etc. one of them had a red cross with a trident on his jacket. This is the symbol of Security Service of Ukraine, though it didn’t ring a bell to the “cross-bearer”.
On the 19th of April, on the eve of the Orthodox Easter and on Hitler’s birthday the young men stared chasing two men, who were passing the synagogue and were wearing traditional Jewish clothes. But at that very time the amateur “ideologically smart raiders” were detained. All unskilled “fascists” turned out to be students. They were coming from quite decent families: one guy’s father was a colonel of police; the other guy’s mother was a university teacher. There was a video, where the young men were training to kill. They chose a crow as their first victim. They were beating it with stones and sticks for half an hour. All this took place on Monastirsky Island, near St. Nicolai Orthodox Temple. The serial murderers, who were killing their victims in Dnepropetrovsk in 2007, were also killing animals at first. This is exactly what adepts of many Satanist sects do. Besides the young people were taking pictures of the synagogue building and of the soviet monuments for some purpose. Maybe, they were going to vandalize some of them.
Now the group was done away, and the letters to the educational establishments, where the unsuccessful extremists study, were sent. The roots of evil Recently the representatives of the so called “gilded youth” become the lawbreakers shockingly often. They are the well-fed children of the well-to-do parents, who are used to the knowledge that their “daddy will help them avoid the responsibility”. During the soviet period it was typical for the heirs of the party functionaries, now the children of businessmen, politicians and authorities behave like this. As a rule, the parents, who are very busy with making money and building the career don’t have any time for bringing their children up, and they start realizing this too late, when the “good boy” is arrested by the police.
But all these “good boys” aren’t as independent as they used to think. According to the current information, all the active extremist groups and movements in our country are created and supported secretly by famous and respectable political parties. The boys are grown to make a battle force to do the entire “dirty job”. And the ordinary “fighter for ideology” may not even guess whose interests he actually protects and who is to be blamed if he gets arrested or seriously injured. The representatives of Dnepropetrovsk law machinery have reasons for their being proud of the absence of international or interreligious conflicts in our city, as it is the result of their successful preventive work. They promise that any extremism will be punished.
