New cult can cause a quarrel between Kiev and Beijing Версия для печати Отправить на e-mail

One can see unusual athletes sitting in capital parks and other places. There are posters near them with inscriptions “Falun Dafa School” (“Falun Gong”). No one could think that these peaceful gymnastic lovers can cause unhealthy effect on… relations between Ukraine and China.

It seems like another “brotherhood” came to us instead of deceased “White Brotherhood”. Citizens of Kiev realized that in summer 2008. At that time columns of “Falun Gong” dancers and drummers (dressed in yellow) made procession from Slava Square to Contract Square. Organizers of this show tried to prove that they are representatives of “China culture”; it is said, the word “falun” means buddhistic “law wheel” (dharmachakra). Indeed, the founder of this teaching is not ancient Buddha (who lived in VI century BC), but our contemporary.

The official report from China People’s Republic Embassy sent to “Stolichnye Novosti” proves that. “Li Hunchji, the founder of “Falun Gong”, using popularity of traditional gymnastic “zygun” among China population attracts people into his sect by promising “to strengthen body and sole”. The activity of this heretical organization caused many deaths and ruined many families… China government has forbidden the activity of this sectarian organization in July 1999 because of number of unlawful actions and claims of community. “Falun Gong” takes psychological control over its followers. The most terrifying principle of this teaching is the encouragement to die “for right law and liquidation of evil…” Statistic shows that about one thousand “Falun Dafa” followers committed suicides… this teaching also popularizes treatment without any medicines. As a result many people have died because they did not address qualified specialists in time. About two thousands people died under such circumstances… And there is one more interesting fact. The representatives of “Falun Gong” sect have created their permanent “point” in front of China Embassy in Kiev after they have received the permission from Kiev city administration. They distribute anti-China printed editions, posters and photos. They also use microphone of high power during the working day… We hope Ukrainian government… will realize that “Falun Gong” will influence badly on relation s between our countries and it will take corresponding measures to forbid the activity of this sect.”

It is easy to understand members of Chinese Embassy. It is not too pleasant to sing agreements favorable for both countries when some odd people with anti-China slogans are shouting nearby. But how should we understand indifference of Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers? Maybe they have forgotten that Beijing is one of the most important economic partners for Kiev? Is there any sense to go mad on some shady “gymnastics” which causes indignation of China government?

It is a pity, but for “Li Hunchji’s people” (and not only for them) Ukraine has become the Promised Land. Ukrainian authorities allowed them to get official registration under two names: “KIOTO” (registration № 2600020980187) and “Falun Gong Followers Association” (registration № 3-12-2002). Both “sisters” are registered not like religious organizations, but like public organizations (that means they are registered not in State Religious Committee, but in Ministry of Justice). Let’s draw a conclusion: there are representatives of “Falun Gong” organization in 13 Ukrainian cities! The level of their technical equipment is terrific. According to mass-media reports the representatives of sectarian organization attacked the Chinese communication satellites and wedged in their own anti-governmental TV-programs on state TV-channels.

Great Buddha “relaxes” compared to Li Hunchji’s cult of personality. It appears that if Buddhist wants his pray to be heard, Buddha’s statuette must be “charged” with the help of “Falun Gong” founder’s photo (!). Mr. Li writes the following in his book “Chzhuan Falun”: “In order to help my pupils to perfect themselves I’ll tell them what they should do. Take my book (as far as there is my photo) or just take my photo and holding the statuette of Buddha ask the Teacher to sanctify the picture as if you ask me about that. Half minute is enough for the problem to be settled.”

In general nowadays we face to not just Buddha, but to “Buddha the Great”. Teacher’s photo sheds such a “power” that he is to become another “holy cow.” And the situation allows it to be. Our religious “democracy” has reached its top of development; and anyone can believe in anything he wants, i.e. either in exotic idols, or in “civilized” Barbie doll. Is not that a reason why “the irradiated” Chinese (who hides in the USA) is said to be unattainable and is placed on the very top of the “hierarchy”?

One can get an answer from the “round table” which took place in Ukraine last autumn (“Informational extremism: truth and lies about Falun Gong”). Experts’ conclusions appeared to be not comforting: the so called “sanitary gymnastics” is to be forbidden! The sooner it is made, better it will be. It does not correspond to Convention on Human Rights and Freedoms (Articles 9 and 10); neither to Constitution (Articles 35, 36, 37), nor to Law “About Freedom of consciousness and religious organizations” (part 3 Article 7). This is caused by the fact that during their actions they demonstrated terrifying photos with tortures, imitation of heart extraction.

The institute of social and political psychology of Ukraine has also estimated this cult negatively. Mr. Vasutinskij, the head of Mass Psychology Laboratory, Doctor of Psychological Science, says the following: “The “Falun Gong” doctrine is a kind of pseudo religious esoteric teaching which is non-traditional for Ukrainians. It is based on mix of pseudo religious and pseudo scientific thesis; they are added with necessity to fully recognize the authority of its leader and to submit to him. The significant distribution of this doctrine in society, and particularly in Ukrainian one, would cause harmful effects. It can cause the popularization of ignorance, strengthen of ideological withstanding, violation of usual interfamily and interpersonal relations; it can cause the dependence and humiliation of human dignity; it also causes harm for human health; and of cause this can be an excuse for violence and suffering.”

So, knowing all this, can anyone believe in harmless meeting of “athletes?” And does it really worth spoiling relations with country which turnover with Ukraine amounts to about four billion dollars annually?
