An organization, which is recognized to be dangerous for society, has held an exhibition in the House of Scientists. The exposition of paintings was open for a week period.

It seems, every city-dweller has seen some strange people sitting in strange poses in crowded places. But very little of them know that actions of the public organization “Falun Dafa System” could be controlled from overseas; it can also cause a conflict between Ukraine and one of the most powerful countries in the world.

Bloody kindness

The exhibition we are talking about took place in the House of Scientists in Kujbyshev Street. It was almost impossible to pass by all that time because people of different ages busily poked invitations and some newspapers; and they almost by force made people enter this exhibition titled “TRUTH KINDNESS PATIENCE.”

25 painting painted in a very specific manner with obvious “oriental tendency” were placed on the second floor of the building. “The guide” met visitors and delivered a real sermon of “Falun Dafa” teaching near each painting. However in a very short period of time the sermon was replaced with rough criticism of China Communists Party which taunts “Falun Dafa” followers (they are said to extract human organs without anesthesia!). And these subjects were reflected on some paintings very bright. The fillings of visitors can be summarized as “odd” and “burdensome”. Nevertheless many people listened to them attentively and nodded their heads with sympathy.

Dangerous sorrow

There are several quotations from a list of psychological analyses made by Vera Timchenko, the psychologist of “Dialogue” Dnepropetrovsk center assistance to victims of destructive cults.

““Falun Dafa” followers do not express that “kindness, serenity and confidence in their rightfulness” which they declare. There are no emotions at on their faces.”

“No one wants to come to a person who grieves in such way (a girl with heavy look cuddling a cinerary urn with her parents’ remains – author); there is no confidence in self safety.”

“The author of these paintings divides the world in two poles – plus and minus. Plus pole is followers and those who sympathize. Minus pole is those who do not support the organization and the Communists Party of China. Such a division into white and black is typical for immature person. It can be found in cases of several psychological deviations.”

“…there is a creative studio and photo club for children; the main part of their members are underage. The view of such material can cause a negative influence on children’s emotional state.”

Is that enough?

Public missionaries

So, what do we have? A public organization leads religious propaganda and recruits people not in “the temple and the nearby territory” as it is sated in legislation, but on the nearby territory of cultural office. It is not important who the owner of the building is; he could just sign a contract. The question is where are the authorities? Where are the authorities of city cultural management, internal politics, and law-enforcement organs?

Jan Shchekaturov, the head of “Dialogue” center, says: “Public organizations have no rights to carry on religious and “foreign policy” activities. It is hard to struggle with “Falun Dafa” because of its “public status”. But what prevents authorities to raise a question about re-registration? By the way, this exhibition was to be held last summer in Gagarin Cultural Palace. But they faced a rough position of the head of University. There even was a concert held by a famous destructive sect under aegis of city authorities.”

It seems everything is clear. But the situation is more complicated. We will provide a brief digression of global politics to understand it.

Does it worth playing jokes with “Falun Dafa”?

The religious flowing “Falun Gong” which propagandizes “Falun Dafa” religious doctrine does really compete with Chinese Communists Party; besides it is prohibited in China Czen Czemin government. It is hard to say how roughly the followers of “Falun Dafa” are prosecuted. But it is known that some of them are subjected to psychical rehabilitation in special centers. And no one see any problem in it inside the country.

The situation abroad, and particularly in Ukraine, is quite another. “Falun Dafa” followers piquet the embassies and slander Chinese inner policy. Who would like that? That is why Chinese government feels nervous about the activity of this organization abroad. It should be added that “Falun Gong” has strong back-up from the USA (the guide from exhibition said that all painting are done there). This back-up is a kind of counterbalance to growing influence of official China. You now can understand that footsies with such a powerful country will lead to serious sequels. What should “poor” local authorities do with such a powerful public organization?

Dmitrij Granov, head of Ukrainian national public organization “Cults and Society”, said in his analytical note named “Dnepropetrovsk authorities’ hypocrisy”.

Dnepropetrovsk diplomacy

“On June, 21, 2009 the day before anniversary of the beginning of World War Second, there was held a procession with symbols which remind Nazi Swastika. The city plunged into rhythmical drum strikes; shouts “hau! hau!” reminded a procession in Germany in late 30s of the past century.

The procession was organized by Dnepropetrovsk public organization “Falun Dafa System”.

Administration of Dnepropetrovsk inner policy has made a legal estimation of the organization’s activity. The conclusion stated the following:

“The actions of organization do not correspond to part 2 article 35, part 1 article 36, part 1 article 37 of the constitution of Ukraine; they also do not correspond to part 2 article 9, part 2 article 10 of the convention on Human rights and freedoms defense. According to current legislation there are reasons for raising question about prohibition of public organization’s activity.””

It is quite curious that exactly the Administration of inner policy gave permission for holding the procession on June, 21. Why did officials violate the Constitution? The answer can be found in “Falun Dafa” publications in Internet “Great Epoch”: “as a result of judicial meetings we have found a compromise with local authorities and the procession finally was held.”

Mr. Bukin, the head of “Falun Dafa System” public organization, said:

“We got to know that city administration received a phone call in which they were asked to restrict “Falun Dafa” followers’ activity.”

If it is true, then city administration got a problem with two known, i.e. who should they please: the USA which control anti-China movement, or China which tries to withstand the destructive cult.

I think that city administration acted like the Ukrainian proverb says: “submissive calf sucks two dams”. For the USA they say that “as a result of judicial meetings a compromise with local authorities was found”; for China they organized an anti “Falun Dafa” campaign. In politics it is called diplomacy.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs interfered

Should anything be added to the above? The only thing that should be mentioned is that according to information we got from “Dialogue” center, the Chinese influenced Dnepropetrovsk authorities in quite another way. Embassy of China has sent an OFFICIAL PROTEST NOTE to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From there city administration received a secret dispatch which contained requests which Mr. Bukin has almost fully ventilated. The actions of “Falun Dafa” were really restricted. The organizers were to hold the procession on Festival Berth. But they roughly violated this prescription and went along the quay and Juliush Slowatskij Street, and then they went to Globa Park. And is there anything wrong? They can do whatever they want!!!
